Dr. Joshua Thorp is passionate about injury prevention and conservative treatment of low back pain. He is also an advocate for functional movement and rehabilitation as a component of traditional chiropractic care. Dr Thorp believes that conservative musculoskeletal pain management consists of addressing the joint and muscle/connective tissue along with rehabilitation activities to achieve more effective results. His goal is to educate his patients to take care of themselves.
Dr. Thorp graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic. r. Thorp is the only certified University of Pittsburgh trained Primary Spine Practitioner (PSP) in Virginia. He is currently working toward his Diplomate in Non-Surgical Orthopedics at the University of Bridgeport. Dr. Thorp is also certified in Active Release Technique (ART), Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Functional Movement Systems Level II (FMS), RockTape and Functional Range Release- Spine. Additionally, he is CrossFit Level 1 certified.
Dr. Thorp is a member of the Virginia Chiropractic Association, Michigan Association of Chiropractic, American Chiropractic Association, Primary Spine Practitioner Network, Grand Rapids Young Professionals, Grand Rapids area Chamber of Commerce, Lion’s Club and Grand Valley State Alumni Association. He has also served on musculoskeletal boards consisting of medical doctors, chiropractors, and physical therapists to develop algorithms to better serve the patient.
In his free time, Dr. Thorp enjoys mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, training for triathlons, off-roading, both watching and playing sports such as football and golf, and enjoying the DMV area.
